Add Email in Nimiq account

Optional: attach verified email (not shown publicly on blockchain) to Nimiq account. Maybe a hashed version could also be shown publicly.

Apps can request to see the email. There can also be an option to show the email to everyone publicly, or to everyone you send money to. If an app requires an email and none are attached to your account, Nimiq asks for an email to be provided.

Usecases

  • https://cryptopayment.link/ - provide just your Nimiq address, and email is figured out automatically

  • Subscription service - pay money to subscribe to a newsletter or blog

  • Alerts - get alerted when NIM price goes down or when you get paid NIM

  • Sign in - “sign in with email” feature

  • Log in link - get emailed a log in link (contains same info as log in file)

  • Find contacts - find contacts by email

https://cryptopayment.link/ was one of the best contributions to the entire blockchain space from the team, however I see little value in associating emails with wallets or addresses aside from making chain analysis easier, I believe NIMIQ should move in the other direction adding the capability for private transactions at least among accounts held under the same private key.
