This is, of course, a very valid question, and we fully understand that it comes from a place of genuine concern for the project’s long-term ability to continue its work. As a foundation-funded, non-profit initiative, Nimiq operates within the reality that long-term financial stability cannot be guaranteed. It remains possible that, at some distant point in the future and despite all ongoing efforts to develop and strengthen Nimiq and NIM, the foundation’s funds may eventually be exhausted.
Since Nimiq’s primary purpose is not to pursue for-profit business activities, there can be no assurance of indefinite financial self-sustainability. At the same time, once again, this awareness brings a constructive aspect, as it reinforces our commitment to continuously create value and drive meaningful development within the project, ensuring that Nimiq remains vital, financially healthy and relevant for many years to come.
That said, it’s also worth noting that the financial development of the foundation’s assets, as publicly documented in our annual Transparency Reports since the project’s inception, has demonstrated that Nimiq has always acted prudently and strategically conservative in managing its funds. This cautious approach has also been influenced by the fact that, until now, no single flagship product has qualified to justify a major allocation of resources toward large-scale marketing and promotional activities.
We are aware that the lack of extensive marketing is one of the main public points of criticism directed at Nimiq. However, we firmly believe that this restraint can ultimately become a significant advantage for the project, as it has allowed us to preserve valuable resources and deploy them at the right moment, when we have the products and momentum needed to achieve meaningful impact.
