New Wallet Feedback Thread

hi, I am not new. I am in Nimiq’s telegram since August-September.
Bitboy is the answer, though.

Hi, In regards to the OASIS trasfer limit, if a transaction fails (ie due to not istant SEPA or wrong ref) the limit is reduced as if it was correct, despite transaction does not occur. Hope I explain the issue corrrectly.

Hello, your wallet is very intuitive, simple to use ! Below some idea to improve the user experiency :

  • add the possibility to see the marker evoluation with “1h” (Actually there is 7D, 24h) + add weather icon according the market (sun, could…)
  • Import contact with their NIM address
  • Add Ethereum address (the goal is to touch much people as possible)
  • Create an official nimiq wallet app for android and iOS with the same functionalities that the browser wallet (Like Elrond did with Maiar app)
  • From the wallet add the link to minning (https://miner.nimiq.com/) and to the possibility to download/read the whitepaper and some others usefull documentation/tutorials
  • When POS will be used instead POW, add the possibility to stack from the wallet

Thank you for the good job you do for this project !

I wonder whether it would be posible to have KYC only tight to the liquidity provider’s API, namely FastSpot. That way in case that someone wanted to build/run a copy of the wallet locally they could use their own API keys or even a different liquidity provider. Although, on a second thought it might open a completely different can of worms, the advantage would be making the wallet, which is the entry point to the Nimiq ecosystem, even more robust against censorship and things like that.

This is what people will see when they use a login file that is only used for single address.

Not sure if on purpuse, but the fiat value of the transactions made in the past is not updated with the exchange rate. If I sent 1 nim and it was worth 0,007€ this is shown also today despite it is worth 0.01€.

I believe that is by design so you can see the fiat value at the time of the transaction.

There used to be two fiat value when Wallet 2.0 was new. One is historical value and another was current value. Now, it is only the equivalent value at time of transaction like @Sandman said.

Hey guys,

I was wondering about the loginfiles and safety a little bit. Not sure how it works now but when you create loginfile with new password - the old one doesn’t neccessarily gets disabled, correct? So now you have let’s say 2 /3/4 loginfiles with 2/3/4 passwords to the same wallet, where the old one may be less secure than the later.

Doesn’t this compromise security a little bit? I understand that invalidating older login file + password while creating new one might not be the best idea, but how about we got some security tab in the settings where we can see number of active/downloaded loginfiles and also option to disable them? So we can actually manage and be sure to have only the latest loginfile with our latest password available and noone can breach the wallet if they hack the previous versions?

I am not sure if I am explaining myself clearly but this is somewhat of a concern to me, as loginfiles are usually stored locally on the computer that’s online most of the time…

I get it that one way to do that is to actually delete the loginfile and then it should be forever gone, but that might not be the case if you have some sort of virus in the computer. Also it happened to me before that I would copy my loginfile to multiple directories and then actually forgot about them - as I thought downloading the new loginfile with new password would disable the older one. Any sort of reasoning behind this? Is there maybe an loginfile + 2fa option in the works for the future?

Thanks!

Yes dark mode needed!

Hi!

I completely understand what you mean.

However, with the app architecture that we are using, invalidating old LoginFiles is impossible.

Nimiq does not store any data about you or your accounts on its servers. We do not store and manage your password or your addresses.

Your account is only recreated from your LoginFile. And when you change your password, you get a new LoginFile, encrypted with the new password, but there is no way to make the old LoginFile invalid, as it also includes your account seed.

Deletion of the file is the only way to “disable” it.

Hi! Thanks for the reply Soren, so in case someone takes advantage of your file and might know the password it is mandatory to make new wallet … which sucks a little bit as sometimes you get accustomed to your avatar and adress in general

Anyway - other thing I noticed now - I have never actually used loginfiles all that much - but when you logout and login again your wallet details resets - account name and wallet name for example - is this also something that cannot be fixed because it is a little bit annoying that you would have to rename both your account and wallet every time you use it - safely. I guess for most of the people who for example share their computer leaving your wallet online all the time is not so convenient, even though your password is safe and secure… It makes rename functions a bit obsolete like this. Any thoughts?

When you log out in the wallet. All data currently stored on your computer will be removed. Along with your encrypted privatekeys, your wallet aliases will be removed as well.

The roadmap has a topic called: Syncing contact book. Maybe this can be extended with wallet aliases.

Thanks for sharing, looks good.

That’s cool so you can co-own a wallet with someone or a trusted group, does the webwallet have multisig already?

Try storing on a Ledger Nano, you can even do atomic swaps on the Nano now with the recent wallet update.

The prompt for Bitcoin being supported is a bit outdated on bank transfer info

Hey guys, just forwarding some ideas from the telegram chat

  1. Some ppl ask for a dark mode on wallet which seems reasonable for the night usage …
  2. I think on the buy section via bank account “Instant SEPA” requirement warning should be a bit more visible. I like how it is showed on the first popup where you choose between credit card and bank transfer - but then when you move forward to bank transfer I would make it clearly visible that SEPA INSTANT is necessary and even have a little info button to explain what sepa instant is so people do not confuse it with regular sepa network… Just a though because a lot of people actually ignore this fact and then ask when they recieve refund etc. etc. This could be avoided by putting larger disclaimer and explaining SEPA instant with clearly visible warning imho  Great work nonetheless! Cheers.

I did a cashlink giveaway today and it seems that Wallet shows same claimant address but Nimiq.watch shows two different addresses (I did two cashlinks as of this post)

I like the new Simplex feature.

I couldn’t access this in normal way in wallet, I need to have this link for Simplex, Moonpay is still an option for buy via credit card. And in Simplex interface, I can’t click close nor click outside to close. If this is still in beta, I understand. Thank you.
