Find the best way to extend the integration of Ledger to the Nimiq Pay App
Some options we have analyzed:
- (a) A stripped-down, Ledger-only Nimiq Wallet. Remove everything except Ledger support. The low-effort, worst-case fallback (“probably not a ton of work”).
- (b) Ledger as a Mini App. A completely different angle on the framework. It depends on Mini Apps being able to provide accounts (Bb.7) and still has to be evaluated.
- (c) “NIM on Ethereum” via Ledger Live. We provide a log-in-with-Ledger and NIM swap/unlock service. Worth analyzing first: a paired “pocket wallet” Mini App inside Ledger Live, where Ledger Live stays the vault (Save) and the Mini App moves a spending amount to the paired One App account. This is easier if NIM is available as “NIM on Ethereum”, since it is then a regular EVM token. Known gaps: staking doesn’t work on NIM on other chains, and moving funds to a hot account defeats the Ledger’s purpose; both must be addressed. Linked: Ad.2 Bridge improvements
- (d) The long term solution: full native Nimiq support inside Ledger Live. NIM, staking and Nimiq Mini Apps directly in Ledger Live. Linked: Ah.5 Mini Apps native support
